SoftReports Features

ActiveX control

The SoftReports Viewer is a simple ActiveX control that drops straight onto any form in your program. You can use it on a stand-alone form, an MDI Form, or in a dialogue box.

Easy To Use

Connect a DataSource to the control, tell it where to find the report layout file, and load the report. It's as simple as that. Or you can hard-code the report to produce a report that can be customised at run-time. And just in case of problems, there's a hundred pages of HTML help to make sure that everything is crystal clear.

Interface to any Microsoft DataSource

Use any Microsoft IDataSource compatible DataSource. Most commonly a Microsoft Data Control or an ADODB recordset, but if you've got other DataSource components they'll work as well.

Distribute SoftReports with your Program

You may distribute the SoftReports Viewer with your compiled programs, provided that your program is for your company's internal use or is being written for a single client. You may not include SoftReports in or with any program which is to be sold on the open market.

Split your Report into Groups

The SoftReports Viewer supports grouping your report by datafield. Hence you could breakdown a report by Region, Sales Person and Dealer. You can have any number of such groupings in a report.

Calculations by Group or the Entire Report

The SoftReports Viewer allows you to SUM or AVERAGE fields in each row of a group, and to count the rows.

Change Fonts, Print Sizes, etc.

Every printable item can be tailored to your requirements. You can set the font (name, size, bold, italic, underline), the alignment, printing position and the format in which items are to print. You can also add lines if you need them.
